Default HELP! fuel pump

ok so im just about to have my bike up and running becasue I got a new gas tank and petcock. the bike had been sitting for five years before so the tank rusted and it gotvarnish inthe fuel pump and the carbs. as I said i replaced the tank and pectock and I also had the carbs cleaned and tuned, but the fuel pump is still full with crap and im pretty sure its sealed so there no way to clean it. Is ebay the only option for a different one or is there a way to clean it?I

Thats a hard one, if it is full of crap and you try using it it could put you back to stage one! How much do they go for on Ebay? It would be easier just buying a used one, I haven't got a clues if you can service them ir not, might be an idea to speak to Honda and ask them.

Is the fuel pump electric, or lever activated off the engine? I would think that you would just hook up a few long fuel hoses, a fuel bag or tank, and either apply voltage or crank the engine and have the pump pump the old fuel and junk into a container. Most you are going to go through would be maybe $2 in gas and you would have all that crap pumped clear.

Please don't do that. I hate for you tp spend money more than you have to but think about it for a second. If you are positive that the fuel pump is full of rust then all means don't risk it. It wil be real easy to reintroduce that rust back in your carbs and those ports are so small it would be easy to clog them back up. Get a used one if you have to please. I wouldn't ake the risk at all.
