Default Engine cut out and fi light

Hey, I have had my 2001 for about 4 years and it has always sporadically had moments at high speed where the fi light will flash on and the engine cuts out for a split second as I'm riding but usually always kicks straight back in.
After being sat over winter this year I have been out twice so far on it and both times, within the first 10 miles, it has cut out completely- luckily I have been on the by pass and able to roll onto the hard shoulder safely. I have then had trouble getting it to do anything at all for about 10 minutes- even the neutral light would not show. The engine made no noise etc. Finally after just sitting there looking like a giant ****, it just works again no problem and I'm on my way.
someone has mentioned to me it could be a clutch switch?
Any advice or similar experiences with this issue?
the fi light does not stay on when I turn the bike on and I took it too a garage before about the sporadic blips and they said there was no code saved.
Don't really feel safe on it now it cuts out completely so want to get it sorted before I ride again.
Thanks in advance

No lights and no-start - feels like a battery power issue to me, maybe something's getting hot and shorting out, or just a bad battery. the Neutral light is a straight power feed from the fuse box - it's analog, not controlled by the ECU as far as I can tell from the wiring diagram.

Maybe when it's hot wiggle the loom and battery around and see if anything happens?

Yeah, clutch/kickstand/neutral switch issue would just prevent starter from running. But dash, clocks, horn, lights, winkers would still work just fine. FI light on clocks is one sign that ECU is not getting power properly.

Would have to be something at start of chain: battery, fuses, ignition switch.

Next time this happens, immediately measure battery voltage. Key OFF. volts = ???

also pull all fuses and measure resistance across their legs. Inspect fuse legs for whitish corrosion as well as fuse sockets in fusebox. Don't forget 30a main-fuse in starter-solenoid and separate 20a FI fuse coming off battery in parallel with starter-solenoid:
