Default Electrical/Wiring Problems!!!

Back round info:: The other night, my buddy and I were riding (my 1989 CBR 600). He was in front as usual, and as usual, I blew by him for a second. He told my my taillight was out. So we turned around and came home. The next day I was going through the wiring. I ran a new wire for the power to the taillight. Worked great. I cheated and ran it from the ignition switch (found a spot that had constant power with the key on, and soldered it). Today, we went to ride, and i had my bike running, went to push it out of the garage, turned the wheel a bit, and it died. Now there's no power at all. Also, the rear turn signals no longer work, since running the power wire from the ignition.

The Problem:: I can't figure out where the electrical problem is, the search sucks on this website, and I don't have a manual. I am gonna try and go through the entire harness from the front to the back, and see if I can solve this. Any info from fellow riders on here would be much appreciated!

Will update if I solve the problem

My guess is when you turned the wheel, your solder joint on the ignition moved, and is now grounding out the electrical system. Depending on which side of the fuse you added the splice on, you could have ruined your battery. Check your battery, and move forward through your system.

The search is great on this site. What sucks is people's inability to type a decent topic subject. God knows how much useful information we will never be able to find because some jerk titled his topic "OMFG PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!"

You shouldn't be doing ANY of this without the manual. That should be the first thing you download when you get a new bike. I have solved SO MANY probs just by RTFM.

There are a couple of things to look at. Was it just the tail lights or just the brake lights? The fuse for the tail lights also powers the front turn signal lights, which are on all the time when the bike is on and the gauge lights. You probably wouldn't notice the front lights and the gauge lights not working in the daytime. Brake lights have a different fuse. These are dual element bulbs so if the tail light burns out or loses power then the brake light will still work. Check all of your fuses and download the manual here.http://www.cbrextreme.com/downloads/...manual-54.html . Take a look at the electrical diagram in the back and go from there. Making your own circuit paths is not a good idea if you aren't totally aware of what you are doing. Good luck. Repost with results or PM me if you have questions.

Thanks for the advice, help, and the manual download!! 12 hour work day today, so won't get a chance, or energy really, to work on it until tomorrow. Will update with what I find!
