Default Bike won't even try to start... help if you can please!

My 1990 cbr 600 is refusing to start. When I press the start button it wont even try to start the engine and the lights wont even go on when I turn the key. I thought for a while it was the battery since I would have to charge it up for a while for it to attempt to start. I charged the battery for about an hour today and the lights turned on. I had the battery checked and it is sitting at 12.5, so its good. It has been sitting for about 2 weeks but that shouldn't kill it.. If you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Im hoping it doesnt have a connection problem or starter problem. Thanks in advance!

does the voltage drop when you hit the button? if so, what does it drop to? check your battery cables connections too.

I dont have a volt meter to check... I have it hooked up tp a bat charger now and the amps are only reading like 4. I tried to pop start it earlier and it sounded like the engine wanted to start. The rpm's went up a little but it died imidiately. Im guessing thats because it needs a carb cleasner (usually takes a few starts to get it running consistently).
