Default Best sprocket gearing?

I'm converting to a 520 chain and am getting custom sprockets and i was wondering what the optimum gearing was, I will be doing some interstate driving but mostly in town. Optimum on the site where im getting them is 15 front and 47 rear, Anyone have this combo? If so how is it or if you have anything else any input would be great. Thanks.

thats the combo i went with also. stock front sprocket, +3 on the rear. if you're gonna be doing alot of highway riding, i would keep it stock. i dont remeber exactly what the rpms are, but 75mph is over 7000 rpm.

so how does this work, if I get a 47 tooth sprocket for the rear will I have to get a new chain or can I reuse and just do a quick sprocket swap ?

what all is involved with the swap ?

thanks

1 down in the front is the equivalent of up 3 in the rear. On most bikes -1, +2 is the best gear ratio. The 520 is the width of the chain and sprockets. Stock is a 530 usually. I've found over the years unless you're at the track and need oz. of a difference in weight, go with steel gears. -1, +1 I got my fastest time at the track with a 10.6 stock 929rr. When I went -1, +2 I couldn't break 11.

a 47 tooth sprocket might sqeeze on there with the stock chain, but it will move the rear tire forward. i would just go one down in front. the front sprocket is easier to change and cheaper.

both are pretty easy to change, loosen chain, unbolt sproket, replace, and torque bolts. for the rear sproket you have to remove the tire.
