1987 Hurricane to 2003 CBR600RR Conversion
Ok got the picks posting hem now. By the way i did some serching on ebay and found this (3mm Polypropylene Sheet 420mm x 297mm A3 Size | eBay) do you think it would work?
Your tail does not have the lips underneath like the one I have. You will likely need to fabricate some brackets from the sub tail frame to come down to the level of the plastic you will mount there. I would cut the piece to fit inside the small lip on the tail and then measure from inside frame to the inside surface of the plastic piece. Then make "L" brackets that mount to the subframe to the plastic.
Yes that material should work. It's a little thicker than what I used but poly is flexible.

This thread “is” the how to. If you start at the beginning it goes through all the steps on how to convert to RR plastics.
As far as cost, I have lost track. I started with a used set of fairings but that really is only the start. There are a lot of extra parts that aren't part of the fairings. Seats, lights (headlights are spendy) mirrors and fasteners. Vents and air intakes. The used front fairing I had was missing two of the headlight mounts so I bought a new one. It adds up quickly
I've also purchased a bunch of new parts and upgrades for this bike. I want it to be a show piece when I'm done. I have new wheels, tires, exhaust, shock, brakes, bearings, seals, switches, grips, levers, decals and fasteners to name just some of the parts. I've completely rebuilt the front forks with new springs, seals and dust covers. I also have a new clutch and springs.
I'm sure I have $3000-3500 into it now. I would think that just doing the RR fairings would cost $1000-1200 with proper paint.
You could do it cheaper for sure, but the one thing I can say is there are a lot of parts that you will need that are not part of the fairings...like the front fairing stay. If you do this conversion you will likely keep the bike forever because you'll never get your money back.
Most of my parts are from Ebay, but I always check OEM first. You'll be surprised you can buy direct from Honda cheaper than on Ebay sometimes. The black RR side covers come up on Ebay all the time for $25 each used and you can buy them new from Honda for $12.

I hear ya bud...too bad about the Ninja...those are nice bikes.
If you go to the very first page in this thread it talks about mounting the upper. You need the RR upper fairing, RR fairing stay, windshield, RR headlights and turn signals, mirrors, ram air scoops, the two fillers that fit on either side against the frame and fasteners to mount it. There are 4 main screws on the mirrors. You have to fabricate brackets to mount the RR fairing stay on the Hurricane. Probably some other parts I am forgetting. I am using the original gauges with stand offs mounted to the RR fairing stay.
Now here is the problem. If you read this thread and how the RR fairings are fit to the Hurricane, you can't mount the front fairing without having the side fairings and bottoms because the fitment it done with them all temporarily mounted to the bike to get the proper position.
I think you should read the first few pages of this thread...it will make more sense to you if you do.
lol my apologies i actually did read them but my mind was blown of the thought that i could make my bike look like this i must have skipped pieces, so from my understanding is i should start with the bottom fairing and work my way up, have you found a way to power the lights? i actually don't mind the rest of the bike so much but wow the front, at least mine is all cracked and jacked up thats why i wanna do this mod.. wow ok i guess ill have to keep an eye out for all these parts on ebay.

The lights hook into the Hurricane wiring. You need the RR sockets and wiring. You don't start from the bottom up. The upper fairing stay is temporarily mounted so it can be adjusted. The upper fairing is mounted to the adjustable fairing stay. The lowers and bottoms are then mounted to the upper and the whole assembly is moved around and adjusted, cut and trimmed until it fits. The 2003-04 RR is a smaller bike than the Hurricane so the fit is tight and it is critical to be able to adjust it all until it fits before anything is permanently mounted. Again, please read this thread. It explains every step in the process.
Also any chance we can exchange emails? I'm still having to use mod approval for posts if u choose to here's my email jorgevasquez40@yahoo.com tks again for ur help I tried to do some research on if the 06 would fit 03 and only issues I seem to encounter are rear cowl, hugger, and front fender everything else fits and of course to ours it would need modification so should I go ahead and purchase this? I'm getting all pieces even tank for 350 no cracks and front cowl still holds lights, no lights included
