Wallaby, what sort of front tyre are you running I found the tyre that came on my new bird was terrible it had the shakes when I backed off and wasnt great ina corner seemed to want to drift, so I replaced mine with batlax BT 021 fornt and back and my problem went away no more shake or wobble. The tyres I took of were BT 57's

that knocking sound is probably you cct going out, honda sells an UPDATED replacement with new pressure fitting and auto adjust for under 50 bucks......go buy one before you **** your cam out the stator cover....
even if its a slight knocking, its not worth risking it.
mine has 21k on it and NEVER knocks.....did one day, then i got the part previously mention and it stopped immediately...

RE: Need Advice
I recently converted to VFR bars on my '98 and I couldn't be happier. That extra inch makes all the difference...I guess my wife was right . 2002 and newer VFR800 bars are a bolt-on (43mm). May require slight trimming of clutch / brake master cylinders as the hoses will need to be repositioned slightly. The only drawback that I've noticed is that the bars can contact the tank if turned fully. On the bright side, there is no interference with the windscreen. I would highly recommend this mod to anyone experiencing wrist or back pain.
