Default check engine

So working on the gfs dad's 99 11 xx amd.it died on me 10 times going.around the town once. Was throwing an FI code..... what is the sequence to find out what the code means on this tank of a bike?

A long blink counts as 10 and a short blink counts as 1. For instance, 2 long blinks followed by 5 short blinks would mean code 25.

Jump the diagnostic connector and turn the key on.

I have no idea where it is on the xx, but my RR has it on the harness under the seat.

On my 1000RR if there is an active fault code it will blink when the key is turned to the ON position.
