Default Using a music player when riding

I am planning to buy a new MP3 player to listen to when on longish rides. I read somewhere (and know) that hard drive based devices are more susceptible to damage caused by vibrations.
So heres my question...have any of you had any such issues? Should I buy a flash based player instead?
or do you think the vibrations that occue when riding are not bad enought to screw up a hard drive based MP3 player? what say?

I have used my I-pod for about 6 mos with out any problems so far. Has anyone used the Helmet audios speakers? I just received mine and one speaker did not work so I am sending them back

Ipod Nano's are Flash Devices (no moving parts). The other iPods (the ones that play video) use a small hard drive. If I am correct, you will only find flash drive MP3 players up to 8 gig.

I own a SanDisk Sansa and I love it. I keep it in my pocket when I ride and I am still able to hit the controls to skip to the next song - all while wearing my gloves (takes a little practice)

IMO - I don't think you will have a problem with a hard drive MP3 player, but I personally didn't want to take the chance.

I've been riding with an I-POD Shufflefor about two years. I wear it on the outside of my jacket wrapped around my forearm. It has a aftermarket protective rubber covering on it. Iget this thing soaking wet in the rain, I drop it repeatedly and every so often I clean this thing. It works flawlessly and I love it.
