stuck in Neutrel
Hey guys,
so i have a CBR1000rr 2007, new. She's only got about 3-400 miles on her and something came up twice recently. At a full stop waiting for the light to turn green i shifted into N (because lights in la jolla take like 3 minutes.) but found that i couldn't shift into first. I would click down but it wouldn't shift to first. I tried clicking up to 2nd and back down to first and it goes back to N. Also a few times it wouldn't even shift to 2nd. I panicked a bit and hit the engine kill switch and restarted my bike and tried it again, same problem. Panicking even more i did the same thing again and was able to finally get her into first. I had no problems shifting after that. My question is A) what happened? B) is this somewhat normal? and C) what can i do to avoid this problem?
I checked the shift lever when i got back home and everything looked fine from what i could see.

found the answer there, found the answer after i posted. Just to verify, i just roll the bike back and forth a little bit and it'll all be good?

Hmm. its only happend to me maybe 2 or 3 times. And I do the same thing you do, with any bike, is rock it a little and it will go into gear. You must just have bad luck and happen to stop at exactly the wrong time.lol
But you should be able to just go forward a slight amount and it should pop right it. Shouldnt have to rock it back and forth.
i usually pop it into N just before the bike stops rolling.... Dont know if this makes a difference or not. I know, there are going to be people that say the bike should be left in gear in case you need to make an evasive maneuvor, but I mean just before.... like inches before the bike comes to a stop. plus, that damn hydraulic clutch gets pretty heavy holding all day.
