which seat?
they lap us because they are pro riders. it's their job to be better riders than us. who is to say that their asses dont hurt after a race, due to the barely there seats they sit on? i think seats are well made enough now that they wont "break down" in our riding lifetime.
Simple enough, I took a long ride ( about 3 1/2 hours ) and took note of the most uncomfortable spots on the seat.
This is where it gets a little personal; For me, I would get mass discomfort in that area between my tailbone and my nads. After a long ride it felt like my prostate (or whatever is in there) was gonna explode. Due to riding dirtbikes and quads my whole life I have an unbreakable habit of sitting as close to the tank as I can (unless I`m tucked) and when I don`t , I feel like he bike and I aren`t connected. (it sounds dumb,I know.) So, I always have 215 lbs. crushing that one little spot of my crotch into that super hard foam seat.
I was dying to get another seat but didn`t have that much cash to shell out on another seat. (come on now, 200 bucks for a piece of foam and a fancy cover glued or stapled onto a plastic or metal pan. I`m thinkin corbin and sargent can kiss my sore ***.)
So, I pulled off the cover, (just pop out the staples with a flathead screwdriver) and used a piece of small pipe heated with a propane torch to put holes in the problem spot on the foam pad. I made the pipe hot enough to melt the outside of the holes so they would be less prone to tear over a couple years of use. I started out with a small diamond shape up front, put it all back together, and tried it out. I liked it so much that the next night I tore it all apart again and did it across the whole surface that I use when sitting up. Now the seat is squishy were my junk flops but still firm where my butt meat is. I got the best of both worlds.
Just a note, Don`t make any holes too close to the tank or the foam will compress too much and make a ramp for bangin the boys. also, only put the holes on the top flat surface of the pad. Your butt cheeks and thighs do all the work on your seat so you want the firmness there. If you don`t, than you need to strap a pillow to your bike and call it good.

I put a Sargent on my RC51 a couple of years ago, 'cause the stock seat was like a board. When I got the RR, I figured I'd be getting another Sargent, but I'm keeping the stock one. Either my butt's broken in to the seat, or the seat's broken in to my butt! I don't know which![sm=drooldude.gif]

Sounds like a great idea, but how hard was it to get the seat back together so it didn't fall apart?
