Default Removing the 2006 1000RR Heat shield?

I have recently upgraded from a 954RR to an 06 1000RR. I am mounting my Jardine Bolt On exhaust this week. Should I remove the heat shield under the seat or leave it. I don't want to damge my bike. Maybe someone can offer a suggestion since the 04-05 bike have similiar undertails!!!!
Thanks
Rob

This question just got asked in another post. Most will say remove it. I say keep your heat sheilds but trim off the edges that hang over the actual exhaust so you don't see it but it is still effective.

My jardine slip-on doesn't get that hot---even when riding hard. And i have the polished aluminum can, which is said to be hotter than the carbon fiber or titanium. So i took mine off, 1000 miles later, no probs at all.

I have an Arata titanium, I can ride it forever and still put my hand on it without it getting hot. Take that hideous heat shield off!
