Default Removing the Heat Shield under the passenger seat.

Who has done it and how much of a difference did it make in the ride?

Really not a huge difference. But just a bit warmer on your butt cheeks. I dont have mine on. I dont even notice it. I think it also looks better. If you want to keep yours, you will have to cut it down if you are using an aftermarket exhaust. So its up to you

If you have a slip on, it should come with a 'heat shield' sheet that adheres to the bottom of the tail. it's an easy fit. ask a pillion if they feel any heat besides the roaring engine producing tons of power![sm=yikesomg.gif]

Yo, thanks... I have a 2brothers and I move the license plate to under the undertail. I'm taking the heat shield off it just gives it a cleaner look and I love that.

remove the heat shield
and cover the bottom of the tail with Cool-It brand heat tape.
then because the tape is silver paint it with black hi temp paint

problem solved
ugly shield gone

yea i dunno the point of the heat shield... doesnt really make a dif to me, i took it off cuz i didnt wanna hastle with cutting it and stuff for my new pipe. doesnt bother me the least bit, if anything, im happy i got rid of the extra weight, as little as it is.

why are you cutting it off
just unbolt it and remove
its just extra unnecessary weight to be hauling around a track
the Coolt-It tape works just as well and looks cleaner

i didn't want to take mine off since i have to take my nephews around the block every once in a while
so my bud helped me trim my stock heat shield off with one of those Dremels after i installed my full Ti sys ... mainly for aesthetics

then we put the tail back on and now the only way to know its still there is if you were crawl under and poke around
check out the pics under my profile and see if you can spot it
all you need is a steady hand and a marker pen to go with the Dremel
