quick question about stator cover

Default quick question about stator cover

my stator cover on my 061krr has scratches on it.. im replacing it.... is there oil in that compartment (or any fluids), will i have to wait untill i drain the oil on the next change to change the cover.... or can i change it without messing with any fluids..

I replaced mine, and It is very easy I didnt have to drain the oil I just simply took it off. The only thing I would suggest is getting some honda bond to put it back on to seal it.

thanks.. is it called "honda bond" or just the stuff honda uses?

you can call superbike supply, he can get you an actual gasket for the stator cover

Im new at bikes and just wondering is there suppose to be oil in that cover??
Im looking to buy a wrecked 99 F4 and when you start it it slings oil out of where the stator is. any help please and thanks

yes
there is oil in that cover
you can take it off without draining the oil by leaning the bike over to the right against something.
then there is only like a spoonful of oil to clean up from the inside.

^^ but you might as well change the oil while you are doing it anyway. Who knows if dirt/water/etc. got into the oil from the crack in the cover.

well good point. oil is cheap and always good insurance
