I've been changing my oil & filter every 4,000 miles and I never get hard shifts whether it's new oil or old unless I just botchthe shift. Maybe you should adjust your shifter up or down a little or take a look at your shifting technique.

 

i have no problem with my 600RR with changing oil every 3000 miles

 

definetly do not use the moly
you will have to replace your clutch plates

the repsol has been tested to protect just as well at 5K miles as it did when it was new on a street ridden bike

as far as shifting, check your clutch fluid to make sure there is no air in the line,

and dont forget this gearbox is pretty clunky anyway.

 

If your going to spend 10.00 a quart, wait till the HP4S comes out, fully synthetic. It should be at the dealers this month. Honda is swearing by it.

 

Thanks for the heads up on the moly issue. My next oil will be Honda HP4 w/o moly. A buddy of mine rides a 2004 R1 and he's using Hp4 w/o moly and says he's getting 2000 mileas min. before he starts to hear loud shifts.
