Default need some tire decision help!!

Hey guys,

Im new to the site, but not so new in the cbr world However im having a bit of a dillema. In my spring preparations (ya, im starting early..im anxious...winter sucks in buffalo) ive decided that a new set of rubber is a must. But idk HOW to choose ive read tons of reviews and watched SO much youtube and still cant decide. Some say Pilot Powers all the way, ive had good experience with Dunlops, however the new Metzeler M5 interacts seem to have an incredible science behind them? is it hype or are they really a great tire for the 2011 season. Some feedback from those oh so lucky areas who dont have the gift of winter and have already ridden the new tires would be great!!! keep in my ive got an 08 1000 pulling just shy of 200hp....so i NEED grip, traction and performance...however lets face it guys..we want these $400 tires to have SOME life out of them too right? your help is greatly appreciated!!

There is already at least one recent discussion on tires. Here it is: Tires

I also have an 08 1kRR. Based on the review in the article below I bought a set of Bridgestone BT-016's. I'm waiting until my OEM tires turn 10,000 miles before I replace them. Around 800 miles to go.

I have a 2008 1kRR and have recently put the Q2s on. For street I find ride to be very bumpy as compared to the Pilot Power 2CTs; howevr, the performance is great on curves. I just ordered a new set of 2CTs and will save the Q2s for my track bike. So if street riding is important than IMO the 2CTs gives a better ride with a nicer profile.

2CT's last longer than the Pilot Powers, I have had them all. 2CT's are the best. I have a set of Pirellis on now and will get the 2CT's when these wear out.

They have the harder compound in the center for highway and regular riding. And the softer rubber on the sides for the twistys.

Any modern tyres will be good enough. Tyres don't last long either, so even if you don't like a set it won't be long before they need replacing anyway. While it is nice to get the opinions of others, everyone has their own preference. If the Metzelers appeal to you, try them.

they are all good tyres. most is in the head

myself....Michelin Pilot Power 2CT all the way.

heats up fast enough, good grip in wet conditions, durable ( they last about 4000miles/ 6weeks on my bike.
wich for my riding is amazing

tried michelin pure once, better grip on dry, sucks in the wet, tire all gone in 2500miles so a bit expensive
