Idk where the BEST place is?... But I do know that Michelin Pilot Power 2CT or Pilot Road 2 are the best tire you can get for the street! They are made up of two rubbers(dual compound): a softer rubber on the sides, for better grip through turns and a harder rubber in the middle, to give you more millage.

I really like the stock Bridgestone Battlax BT tires that came with my 09 rr when i bought it new. I only have 21xx miles on them but they feel like they are balanced. They feel sticky all the time and they really don't show too much wear yet...then again only 21xx miles.

Having run Dunlops, 'stones, Metzeler, and Michelins over the years, I prefer the Michelins. Good handling, good longevity. However, any of the big named tires will work fine. You will probably get as many opinions as tire choices.

There was a tire review link somewhere in another thread...maybe it was on a different forum. Anyway, based on that article I selected the Bridgestone BT-016 tires as the best for my riding style on the street. Good traction and fairly long tread life.

As far as where to get those or any other brands, once you've decided on what you want do a Google search to find the best price, including shipping. I found a great deal on mine on eBay. They are sitting in my garage and as soon as my OEM tires reach the 10,000 mile mark (about 800 more miles) I'll replace them.

Edit: Aha! Here it is...Motorcycle Tire Guide

Check out Bayside Performance. They had some good tire sales there lately. Both US and Canadian locations.

Default Tire Comparison

There is a sport bike tire comparison in this month's Sport Rider. They start with the stock tires and then compare 4 different brands. Interesting reading.
