motor swap

Default motor swap

i have a 05 cbr 1000rr my motor blew so i picked up a motor from a either a 07 or a 06 cbr 1000rr will everything work i know there are a slight difference in the motor but i wanna know will this engine work or did i just wast my money thanx sorry i couldnt remember the exact engine year i just know its a 06/07

arent the 04-07 motors the same besides a couple of internal differences?

The engine should bolt in as it is the same engine dimensionally. As far as I know, which isn't much, the main differences are internal. What this usually means though is there will be some component differences as well. You may have to do some research on part numbers for things like sensors and the ECU. I believe the 06-07 had different timing and fuel mapping, so the ECU may have to be swapped. If there are different sensors, you may have to swap out the entire wiring harness. Try to locate a parts fiche online and start comparing part numbers with the ECU and other sensors. If they are the same part numbers, you should be good to go.

But to answer your main concern, I don't think you just wasted money. You may have to spend a little more to make it work if there are differences in the wiring system, but it should work. There is also the chance that everything is the same. Just verify it before you fire it up.
