I love my 1000RR and find it disgusting every time someone says that it is too much bike for a newbie, or how long do you think it will be before you put yourself in the hospital.
You're not the brightest crayon in the box apparently, I find your lack of knowledge on this subject disgusting.

+1

Buying a 1000 (I don't care how good you think you are to those that buy them as a first bike) is a terrible idea. A 600 (some 600's ie F4i, R6S, F4, F3 etc...that is) are decent to learn on, but still not the best idea but do-able. A 1000 on the other hand, forget about it.
Starting on a 1000 is just learning bad habits and fundamentals before anything else.

Who cares about height and weight that's subjective. Everyone will give you a different opinion. If you truly are looking for advice
how old is he, has he take the motorcycle safety class, is he married with kids? How much time did he have with the 600?

ok how many times,
this subject matter comes up way to often but my 2s worth.first of all this guy posted how long before his cousin goes down well never we hope. i have not seen anyone on this post try to demish, disgrace or under mineanyone you just ask for an opinion and you get one. maybe it is not what you want to hear but here thay are anyway.first of all iam 5'91/2 and with full riding gear i still tip toe in my boots iam of course a 30 inch inseam. but i have been riding for about 30 years. and yes the 1k is not the bike i would recommend for anyones first bike. but with the torque at low end it can be done but hemust not let that fool him low end to flat out is totally different. trust me and every one this forum that has owned these bikes it does take some experence to open these things up and to properly handle the power and speeds you can approach in a matter of seconds i believe that most people that has not been on one of these bikes do not understand what we are trying to say. for instance you may look down the road and can see clear for say 1/2 mile and say well i am just going to see how much i can do to that point. well what you dont see is that driveway or that crossroador that yield sign about 1/4 mile down the road and a car a child or an old man on a tractor pulls out about the time you hit 3rd gear you are traveling 135 mph what wil you do then that is what we are concerned about someone getting hurt real bad or maybe even killed. these bikes are so fast that the first bike rider has no idea what to expectuntl he has some time on these things and learn, i think most of us started on something not as aggressive as these and moved up as we felt the comfort zone i no idid but believe me no one is bashing anyone.just m 2s worth o buy the way at5'3 ino he has to be hanging off the side to hold the bike up am i rightor wrong not that it matters ihope he loves it
