i live in san antonio

i wear full leathers even in +100 temps

my buddy went down on his RC51 a few weeks ago with full leathers on at a pretty good speed
got up and was fine

true you are not nude under a mesh jacket but i highly doubt that you are wearing a long sleeve shirt either

arms and hands are the main problems
the only armor is in the elbows and shoulders not the forearms

from someone who has seen roadrash (not me co worker)
in a mesh jacket and what he had to go through to get the nylon out of the skin on his forearms
i refuse to wear one,

i will sweat in leathers
That's your choice and I'm not trying to change your mind. I just don't believe in telling people they HAVE to wear what I wear or they're going to regret it.

I don't doubt that there are some accidents where mesh gear would not be the best thing to have on. However, I also don't doubt there are some accidents where a rider will still die if he's wearing the best full leathers ever made.

I'm not against leather and I'm certainly not against you wearing whatever you please. It just bugs me when people insinuate I have to or I'm going to die or I'm a bad person for wearing something else.

I wear my leather gear, but sometimes I also wear my mesh stuff.

I came across a fellow rider last year that had just gone down in his mesh gear. He had a few bumps and bruises, but no road rash and he walked away. His GSXR1000 was a different story though.

if there is just even a chance that your gear wouldnt protect you properly then why use it
if your body isnt worth the little bit of extra money and discomfort that the absolute best gear provides then well ok
go for it
as for me
i have first hand seen the effects of mesh gear when it melts into skin and have seen the poor guy scream his head off when they were scrubbing the mesh fibers out of the road rash

i bet you dont ride with a hard back protector either do you

Nobody's arguing that full leather isn't the best. The ballastic nylon mesh with hard pads is 100% better than riding in shorts and sneakers.

I have both a two piece leather joe rocket suit and also a textile joe rocket CBR jacket and wear it with the joe rocket textile pants. Sometimes I wear leather but if I want to be more comfy I'll go with the textile. Leather is best, but the textile is also a sure bet. They also all have the equal armor in knees, back, elbows, forearms, shoulders...just that leather is better suited for sliding.
