blkout....*sigh*
don't get yourself killed man
No offense, but I can tell a little bit about you from the way you post. I know, you're gonna be the center of attention with your new bike. I get a lot on mine. Just DONT let it get to you head. Don't try to pull stuff you think you can do to look cool but in all reality cant. Ride sensibly for the first few months, I'd say you're not really experienced until you have about 1500-2000 miles under your belt. Even then, on a 1000, maybe not.

Anything these people say about you being 130 lbs and not sure how well you can handle it is completely true. A 1000 weighs 3 times as much as you, it's not a car, there's no protection, something goes wrong you're either dead or seriously injured, ESPECIALLY at high speeds. Which is the other thing. Going fast doesn't make you cool. Any biker will tell you it only makes you 1- stupid, 2- a douchebag. It might be cool to all your highschool friends, but it won't be when theyre at your closed casket funeral. There's a time and a place for everything. I'm not saying I dont go fast, but I do it sensibly, on clear roads, I KNOW the roads. Oy, there's too much to say, just be smart. It's cool that you got such a good bike for such a good deal though. I'm halfway envious.

i was in the same boat. 19years old, cbr1000rr, and no experience. the biggest problems ive had are at speeds less than 15. my driveway is really rough and if your not careful that bike will tilt fast and 130lbs of solid muscle would have a hard time catching it. 1 fall could break or damage so many parts. and then your pride and joy is scratched or worse. my advice, invest in frame sliders, take your time around corners at higher speeds until you get used to it, and always always know where the cars around you are, because they dont know where you are. good luck and have fun.

Didnt notice that at 1st. Check into that. 06's have the polished swingarm, 07's have a black swing arm. You have 06 colors with 07 swingarm, maybe who bike. Check it out, make sure it's safe to ride or not totalled in another state, etc.

well i did the same at 17. i bought a 1000 ninja 1986 model. new at the time, you do the math. i cant say id recommend that as a starting point for everyone. kinda like cliff diving at night. exciting as $#&@ but one little mistake with too much throttle than you are used to and splat, but i lived through it. having said that start easy and progress up smoothly, 90 in the first 2 weeks would not be easy. the right hand makes any thing slow enough to learn on but it takes patience.
ps i have unfortunately lost several friends who diedfrom poor experience, bike size placed little effect in how dead they were.

yeah man i know...
but getting on any bike is a risk..
all it takes is one person to turn in front of you..
but im willing to take that risk bcuz i love motorcycles..
and i rather go out doing something that i love then just doing something else..
