Definately do it yourself, any monkey with a spanner should be able to take this task in hand,
and it will give you invaluble experience of your bike you wouldnt get otherwise!
as for overseas parts i ordered an exhaust 2 days before christmas from the U.K and they shipped it out,
and i got on the 28th Dec ( and i live in Australia!) it also worked out cheaper than going to my local store![8D]

 

I just put a Jardine slip-on on my bike. It was a bitch due to the fact I had to snap the nut that holds the mid pipe to the headers...damn thing was on there so tight from the factory. Good thing I did not need that part. Only thing I did different was lift the gas tank to undo the exhaust valve cables. Didnt feel like cutting them. Just becare when placing your tank back down you do not pinch any wires or hoses. I disgarded the heat shield and only thing i noticed is my tail light is starting to turn yellow from the heat...so you might want to watch for that. Thats why mine is getting a light smoke paint on it. So I would have to say do it yourself. Save time and money.

I put a Jardine pipe on myself. After I snapped the bolt in the clamp that holds the mid pipe to the collector. So after some swearing, cussing and damn near launching that exhaust out into the road I was able to put the exhaust on in a couple of hours. Although I now wonder if I should of cut the heat shield to fit also. Right now the exhaust is getting so hot that it will eventually turn your rear taillight an ugly yellow. I fixed that problem now though. If you dont plan on using your stock exhaust what so ever anymore then by all means cut the cables to the exhaust valve. I took the time to lift the tank and disconnect them, so if something happens and needs to be covered by warranty. I can just put the stock can back on with no problems and will not hinder the bikes performance.
