I am having an issue with coolant leaking, and its leaking up front and high up, so i'm not sure whats going on, I cant get the fairing off, but was able to pry them far enough out to see a little bit, and I cant find where the leak starts, any ideas?

 

the only way your going to know is to pull the farings off and see. My 05 has a tendancy to leak coolant about once every 2 years. I go around around and tighten up all of the hose clamps and its fine. I think the hoses compress after time and need to be retightened.

As for getting the fairngs off. It should be pretty straight forward. Remove all of the bolts holding the fairing on, and remove it. the mid side fairings have bolts on the side, on the top of the upper fairing, and also little plastic push-in lock tabs on the inner part, by the front wheel. I think you may be forgetting those. Look into the front wheel opening and you will see little black plastic tabs. Pull on them and should come out.

Then, once everything is removed, the mid side fairing kind of slides out of the upper fairing. Pull out slightly on the upper fairing and the mid fairing should slide right out.

 

I am not sure what bike you have. I agree no matter what bike it is the fairings will need to be removed for a good look. On my 07 cbr the hoses need to be checked now and then. But there is also a weep hole on the backside of the water pump. I have been told that if the weep hole is leaking it is time for a new water pump. This hole is there to stop coolant from contaminating the motor oil.
