Default Carrying Pillion

Just wondering if any of you ever carry a pillion on your cbr 1000rr, and if so, do they hold onto the leather strap that runs across the passenger seat or do they hold on to you?
Is this strap safe and secure enough for a passenger?

I'm a 99.9% solo rider -- kinda why I like my bike so much is that it ain't passenger friendly. When taking the wifey or kidlet for a spin though, I require them to hold on to me. The strap of which you speak is not much more than a mail holder from the mailbox to the garage.

I have to agree with Chain....that strap is supposed to be for the pax to hold on, but something tells me if they did and you gunned it, they'd land on their head in the middle of the street....if, and that is rarely, give someone a ride, they have to hold on to me....which would limit my passengers to those weight appropriate (can't exceed the max load) and considering I weigh 200+, that limits my occassional pax to that hot little cuttie i just can't say no to....i know its a sexiest statement...but it is what it is

I love to ride solo but i often find my handling laggy because someone cutties on the back with me. I have them hold on to me or put there arms around and place them on the tank when just cruzin. Personaly i dont trust that strap. Just have them hold on to you and it's all good dude...
