Default bzzzzz off to 2nd...common man!

Hey fellow riders. I have had this problem come up just recently. While above 7k rpm's in first I attempt to shift to 2nd and a vicious bzzzz sound is heard and felt and I can't get to 2nd unless I slow down to 4k and then I shift with no problem. This only happens from 1st to 2nd. all other gears shift with no problem regardless of my rpm's. Any idea what this could be? I have had gsxr's in the past and never had this. Bike runs fine but that sound is painful, I feel liek the insides of the bike is being ripped to shreds. Thanks in advance for input. Peace and ride safe!

what kind of oil are you using? I am not sure if that could be a problem or not, but make sure it is not "Energy Conserving" oil.

Sounds like a bent shift fork or a problem with the shift drum, your transmission can't push the gear intocorrect alignment and it is just grinding on the opposing gear not cheap or easy to fix and most of the time with one bent fork you'vegot a few other problems. The reason it happens at higher RPM is the gears are spinning to fastto slip together on their own at lower rpms they just fall into eachother like shifting without a clutch.

what year is your bike if its a 04 or 05 you dont have to split the enging apart yo get to the tranny but if its a 06 or 07 your oout of luck its a pain in the *** i have done them both and your problem deff sounds like a bent shift fork or the grooves in the shift drum are worn hope this helps

This may be a dumb question (I have never had a new motorcycle though)... Will the factory warranty cover a tranny issue like that?

i have an 04 and the same problem between 4th and 5th gear. only when it wants too though. no matter the rpm. doesn't happen all the time. maby once a 2hr ride. but under no certain circumstances. im gona let the dealer look at it this winter. ("if we have a winter") cost will be around 7 hours of labor + parts. a shift fork is about 50 bucks.
