Title says it all
I like the 08, but the OEM colors are questionable.

I already made some paper mache bodywork for it, but since they're one off's, it'll cost you a small fortune. Just don't get them wet.
Seriously, I wouldn't expect to see bodywork until mid next year, at the earliest.

So where do race teams get bodywork? Do they custom make their own?

^^ Yep. Just about all teams have their body work custom painted. (along with a few dozen spares made) And I'm pretty sure all teams produce their own bodywork as well.........or purchase their bodywork from the manufacturer's racing division.

You can get yourself a good graphic artist (*ahem*) to map out a sick design using computer graphics......then have vinyl graphics cut and applied over the stock scheme. Trust me, a simple design will go a LONG way with that bike. (And I agree, the OEM schemes are horrible.) A vinyl graphics set is about $100-200 bucks, versus a few hundred for new plastics altogether.
