Anyone ever flood their 1krr????
ok, i have 4 bikes... 05 hayabusa, 03 gsxr 1000, 05 ninja 250 and my 06 1000rr.... before storing them last fall i put "sta-bil" fuel stabilizer in all of them except the ninja 250.. they were stored in cold storage.. we ran them all a bit to get the sta-bil into the system and then parked them.. i took out the busa and the gsxr first and they both flooded almost immediately.. i changed the plugs and the gas and they are ok now.. plugs were very very wet.. now i took out my cbr and it flooded... the ninja 250 is the only one that didn't floood..!!!!!!??? what tha hek is going on!!!??? the sta-bil was brand new stuff.. recomended for use in motorcycles.. so i ripped apart the top half of my cbr to try and get the plugs out but i gave up when i got to takin off the " air induction box thingy' under the airbox... i find it hard to believe that the stabilizer made the 3 bikes flood but it would be an awful coincidence if it didn't... so now my bike is flooded and won't start and i can't get to the plugs.. what DO I DO???

My friend at work had the same problem with his Harley when he tried to fire his up a couple weeks ago. He used fuel stabilizer and he had a heck of time getting his started because the plugs were fouled. Once he changed his plugs andgot fresh gas it was just fine. He vowed never to use fuel stabilizer again. This was the first year he tried it. In years past he had no problems just storing the bike with the gas tank full.

I didn't use Sta-bil in my wife's bike winter before last and had to take it in to have the carbs reworked.
This past winter, I used it in all 3 of my bikes and didn't have one lick of trouble with any of them. I rode the 1Krr and the Goldwing some during the winter, but never even fired up the wife's bike. No trouble with any of them.

In regards to the gentleman with the wifes carb'd bike my buddy had a similar problem with his F4. He didn't use fuel stabilizer and he ended up just cleaning up the carbs and it was fine. His recent solution to that in the past couple of years is to run the carbs out of fuel byshutting the valve from the fuel tank and letting the bike idle until it is out of gas. I guess by letting the fuel sit in the carbs over the winter it kind of gunked up the carbs.

i dunno if the stabil didn't like the gas or my bike or me or what but i can tell you one thing... i'm not buying anymore stabil. i can't believe that it would flood 3 different bikes.. so i finnally got my plugs out and i'm gonna let it dry out a bit and then change them..
