Default Flood-damaged bikes = good for parts?

Are flood-damaged bikes good for parts?

Obviously the wiring and engine would shot, but how about wheels, swingarms, forks, etc?

How much would you guys pay for a flood-damaged parts bike?

My dad is entirely convinced that it's going to magically rust from the inside out no matter what I do, which is amusing considering that the parts I want are mainly made out of aluminum...

But I need to convince him that it's worth buying or he won't lend me his truck...

I'd be sure to figure out what the status of the title is. If you just want it for parts I don't think theres much to worry about. So long as nobody cranked over the engine (assuming they were able). Pull the plugs, drain the oil, get any and all moisture out of the engine and I don't see why it isn't technically possible for it to be a good running engine with some care. If your plan is to eventually license it then you'll want to make sure you can have a salvage title issued for it and have it inspected. Electronics and ignition are probably fuct. if you get it post up some pics. There's nothing that can be wrong with these bikes that someone on here doesn't know how to fix.

No... just parts. And I already have an engine. The only thing I need from this engine is a shift drum (mine's broken).

I'm still waiting on the title for my frame though...

Question: would fork seals and fork oil keep the forks OK on the inside? or will salt water kill them either way?

Also, what about the transmission bits on the inside, assuming they're covered in oil?
