Default 4000 mile service?

Is it reallt necessary to take the bike to the dealorship and spend $200-$300 to get the 4000 mile service like they tell you to do or do i just save my money and just keep changing the oild like i have been doing fine. Bike runs just like it did when i bough it. I just dont wanna spend the money if its not necessary since things are tight now anyhow.

Not necessary. They cant void your warranty or anything like that. As long as your doing your own maintenance properly.

its not a bad idea to look at what the 4000 mile service is and complete it yourself. there will be certain things they check, so make sure all of the items are checked and ok.

Its kind of funny, I've purchased 3 new bikes in the last ten years and have never had the dealer tell me I had to bring it back in, or even suggest it. Although a lot of people have had it said to them.

I always thought the biggest thing about the new bike maintenance was the value adjustments from the motor braking in. Thanks all that was really done other the oil and reagular things some one might do at home, altho there are some massive engine builders out of there home.

I bought my bike in febuary of this year brand new and i have since put 500 miles on it in about 2 weeks of riding... i changed my oil at 70 miles and again at 485 about which was this morning.... i adjusted my chain today also.... when is the break in done on these bikes? (07 cbr1000rr)

Is there a valve adjustment needed after break in? or only needed at about 15,000 miles like they say?

The dealor I bought it from said that they would change all the fluids and check the valves.I called a mechanic and he said that they won't need adjustment until around 15000 miles
