Default 600 mile service

Why do many honda salesmen & dealers claim that we must bring the bike back for service at 600 miles? I've been told by some dealers that, not bringing the bike back for service at 600 miles would VOID the warranty. Is that true, please help. Also, is it true that we can buy the extended warranty anytime within the first year? & will it also cover everything just like the first year warranty, or does it have deductables & other restrictions? Please help...Thank you.

I don't have facts to back it up but I can't believe that if you do your own oil change at 600 miles, which other then physically checking bolts making sure they are tight is all the 600 mile service is. Call Honda USA customer service and ask them. I'm sure you can find their number on Honda's web site.

As far as the extended warranty, I know you can buy it at any time with in the first year and possibly after. I didn't buy it and after a few months of buying my bike I received a solicitation to buy the extended warranty in the mail. There are different opinions in whether the extended warranty is needed. One opinion that I agree with is if you plan to ride the bike a lot and ride it hard the first year under the factory warranty anything that is going to break will within that first year.

That sux, yes, it is basically an oil change, & I was told it will cost more than $150.00. I wish there was a way to avoid it, & keep the warranty for the first year.

Don`t know about warranty but make sure it gets done by you or whoever for the life of your engine.

I do all my own, I buy the oil n filters from the Honda Dealer where I bought the bike and Keep all the receipts i`m qualified as a bike mechanic so when I spoke to the dealer that was good enough for them for me to keep my warranty.

I know how to change oil, I've done it before many times. I always buy honda filters & M1 oil. What if I change it myself at 600 miles & save the receipts, would that still void my warranty? This is crazy!!!!!!!!!! what about after dealer service 600, do I have to take it again at 1500 or 4000, & if not, would that also void my warranty? Please advise me........
