Question 2009 Exhaust

Hi folks, I have just removed the rear part of a 2009 blade exhaust(the big black part). I am going to replace with one from a 2011 blade, extra shield and looks nicer etc. Do I need some sort of silver gasket as well? I noticed the remains of something when I removed the old one. Also on you-tube then don't mention anything about the EGCA cable that has to be unscrewed. I did this by carefully rotating the wire and screw simultaneously. Was I correct? I did not want to track the cable back through the bike. Thanks The Mass

If the silver crush gasket was damaged then you'll need a new one. You can remove the exhaust cable entirely if you want to but be sure and rotate the pulley to the home position where the notch faces to the rear of the bike or it will show a fault code.

There's a guy on another forum who makes and sells an ESRM (Exhaust Servo Replacement Module) if you want to remove the exhaust valve servo from under the seat for more room and no fault code. I think they're around $20.
