08 1000rr looks
Agree the front end is a little ugly but it doesn't make the bike any less fun to ride for me at least. Its still better than the GSX-R's in my opinion - the center headlamp deal makes em look like a Kirby vaccuum cleaner.

In all honesty. The bikes are so close, on the street, you will probably never notice the difference. thats the great thing about the liter bikes (all sportbikes for that matter) is you can almost pick on styling alone with the new crop of bikes. A few tenths of a second and a few hp will be ate up by rider imput. You could have a new liter bike and have someone on an sv650 smoke ya at the track.
When i bought my bike, I almost bought an R1. But for me, I like the way Honda's have always handled. They are the easiest bikes to go fast on. I had the luxury of riding both before I bought the cbr. It was still so close.. the truth is, no one had any R1's around me. But, someone at the dealership who ordered a Repsol backed out and it just came in. I got it for a real good price. If both were readily available, I'm not sure which way I would go. And, out of the 20 or so guy I ride with, 15 of them have R1's...
If I was in the market for a new bike, I'm not sure which way I would go. I'd probably go with a 1098.
Looks shouldnt be on top of anyones priority list, but when all of the bikes are this good, why pick the ugly one?

I'm trying to like the look of the 08, but its just not happening... All the reports say its the best 1K bike out & I do think thetrack body without the headlights & turn signal mirrors is ok. But looks is a consideration for me & its the ONLY reason I'm gonna wait for the next version.
is this a hardley/charbucks forum or a sportbike forum? wtf?
let me clue you in:
my gixxer cut through the wind and highway turbulence like nothing i could imagine. the cbr gets tossed around by semi 'wash'.
so why would honda make a fugly fairing that is less smooth in the wind?
BECAUSE the aerodynamics from the side are awesome. so what? this is a major reason it flicks through the curves so well at speed. it is not totally focused on cutting through the wind in a straight line.
i've had both my 06sxr1000 and my 08cbr1000rr at trackdays and it is really noticeable!
so whodafa cares that the r1 looks nicer, you can't see it while riding...
