1000RR
Guys, looking to buy me a new streetbike here in the next few weeks and need an HONEST response. I currently have a 04 GSXR1000 that I am building for the dragstrip, but I am wanting another for street riding. I am a die hard Honda fan and I haven't had the opportunity to ride the 1000rr or the 600rr. Is the 1000rr a good bike for the street or would I have more fun on the 600rr? I have ridden the 954 and the 929, but neither of the two asked about. I need honest responses, I am already a Honda fan, not like I am converting.
I felt like that too about the GSXR1000, but I am just a Honda fan. I feel if I have a street bike and a trackbike, I can satisfy my needs both ways. I want to get into road racing, but I have to deal with the dragstrip for now. I actually thought of trading the GSXR1K for a 1000rr and build a turbo kit for it, just to be different, but with the lack of aftermarket support changed my mind on that. I satisfy my need for speed on the track, so if I find me a Honda for the street, I get the best of both worlds. I was thinking the 600rr myself, that way, should I ever indulge in the roadracing scene, I would already have the platform to convert the 600rr.
I had an 04 RR and thought it was a great streetbike! You won't like the lack of power with the 600...so stay with the 1000's! Whats mods are you doing to the Gixxer for drag use? How big of a rider are you?
Either way I think you'll be good. You'll save some dough on the 600, price & insurance. I've had both. I liked my 600 as much as I like my 1000RR. When I'm coming back from a ride, I like the smoothness of the 1000RR, no bar buzzing, for the ride back. Good luck with whatever you choose!!

Since you have already ridden the 929 and 954. I think you will find more enjoyment on the 1000 RR. I will warn you, it handles very well in curves just like the 600. But the 600 really "wanted" to turn easily and that surprised me.
