04 not charging--stator or volt regulator?

There is a thread on how to do this in General Tech and How To's.
you should also note that those bikes have a recall on their charging system. Assuming that you have never changed anything, you will need to change the flywheel,stator, and possibly the recitifier. Honda was doing them free to all owners, I dont know if that is still going on. Just a heads up that it is very common on those bikes

Ditto ! I had the same bike with the same problems and had to change the stator and the rectifier. They tend to go at or around 10-15k miles as I think mine at the time about 18k miles so it held on for a bit. After the replacements were completed, it was running so sweet even with all the miles.
