What have you done to your CBR 1000f today?
short 100kms ride this arvo , man these tyres are stuffed ! also need to get a grip exerciser before the good weather hits , my clutch hand was cramped up bad by the time I got home
Long story short - an interesting day to say the least in my world of CBR1000Fs.
Started early with me ringing a bloke in Melbourne at 8.30AM that had a New York Silver US import '88 1KF for sale, partially dismantled but complete. He had some guy coming around to look at it, so if that guy didn't buy it, I was welcome to make an offer.
Rang back two hours later, not sold so made an offer and it was accepted! Paid on-line immediately! A trip to Melbourne will happen next weekend to collect the bike.
Then Joy and I were to go for a ride as she has her license test in two weeks - only a week or so before we go to Vietnam. I cleaned both bikes and polished them, checked oil, tyres, brakes, chains etc and we were off.
Before I had gone 7 km, one of the front wheel bearings collapsed on my CBR1000F
Sobering experience.
Turned the bike around and limped home at 40 km/h with some awful noises from the front wheel and wicked shimmying, with Joy acting point. Joy to her credit took off for a ride on her GSX250 and I rang Naga to find out the bearing number (too lazy to look it up). Beautiful day in the hills and I missed out on a ride.
Talked a bit with Naga about the wheel bearing and then I announced that I had bought the '88 CBR1000F.
Naga asked if it was the bike at a particular suburb in Melbourne. I said yes and then he told me he looked at it in the morning!
I'd like to thank Naga for looking at the bike for me
and not offering to buy it. I've got a feeling a beer or two may be owed.
More to report when the bike is collected.
Cheers, SB

Got a new tyre fitted to the rear of cbr on saturday afternoon and i went for the Avon roadrider, Got up early on suday morning and fitted new front brake pads then went for a decent ride with the mrs on the rear and so far im impressed with the avon rear but there again it did replace a 10 year old dunlop that was missing them wiggly bits called tread. Now some may remember i fitted some delkivic silencers a short while back' Now ive done around 1600 miles with these silencer and ive tried with the baffles out and in and to be truthfull i think its better with them in for two up rideing bike seems to have better midrange but for solo riding i leave them out. There doesent seem to be any difference in the mpg either with baffles in or out, If i dont go over the 5k mark on the rev counter when them mrs is on the rear im getting around 50 to 55 mpg, even by myself with me brain put in the top draw before i go out im still getting 40 mpg so carnt complain.

It was not a dark and stormy day!
In fact a beautiful spring day in the Adelaide Hills. Started very early pulling the front wheel off to replace the bearings, but quickly descended into a full blown brakes/pads/bearings/painting/fender extender exercise which continuing after work I have just finished!
But it looks great.
Cheers, SB

I got all my bikes ready for winter storage yesterday. Higher elevations had frost warnings last night and I am heading out of town this week for work. I finish up around November 25 and it will be a bit nippy. I'll have my dual-sport standing by at the garage door for emergencies.
Sunday's ride was a cold one.
It's been a good year for riding but all good things come to an end.
Happy riding to all down under.
