Upper fairings model differences....
I have an '88 hurricane. I was wandering if anyone knows if the '90's on up models upper fairings will bolt-up to my older models lower fairings? The ugly turn signals just don't appeal to me, and I'm not a very good bodyman so I don't want to try and fill them in with bondo. I just want to bolt something on and ride.

sorry chuck, the newer farings used a different faring stay, and different shaped side panels. you could try and use a newer complete body, but i think the work to put it together would be alot more than just a little bodywork...
try painting them the same color as the body, maybe it would blend in enough that you wouldnt notice how ugly they were...

Thanks man. You seem like you know your stuff when it comes to swapping parts on different bikes. I'll try painting them. I never would of thought of that. I like tinkering with cars and now I'm getting more into sport bikes. I also have a 250r ninja. I've put a devil bikes carbon can on. I'm too cheap to pat $300 for an exhaust for a bike I gave $300 for. The can was off of an '90s cbr 600.
I just ordered a (-1) tooth front sprocket for the hurricane today. I hope that gives it more low-end power. As money comes I'll do more too the bike. I got a question for you... I went to order a new brake lever..(I bought it with a bent one).. Is the '88 cbr1000r The same lever as the CBR1000F?

i did a quick check for you, and the cbr1000f (87-96) all used the same lever. interestingly enough i also checked on a 97 f3, and that too was the same part... not all of the bikes i looked at shared the exact part number, the difference was mostly in the 3 letter code that followed the 53170.
the ones that matched exactly are:
88 hurricane 53170-MW0-006
94 cbr1000f 53170-MW0-006
97 cbr600f3 53170-MW0-006
90 cbr600f1 53170-MW0-006
91-94 600f2 53170-MW0-006
well, you get the picture... looks like it is $26.04 for a new one...
