Throttle lock...which one do you use?
If I started using the "weakest link" theory of resting, I'd be farther from my destination when I got there than when I started.
But seriously folks, on my 90 mile ride yesterday, I again started feeling the right hands tingling which you all must have experienced with your Hurricanes. I have access to two Canes, and on longish runs, the vibration in the throttle is the same (but never in the left hand). I bet there have been threads on this, huh?
Anyway, my beloved 93 came with what looks to be that Vista Cruise throttle lock. I had recently put a different (and in hindsight, really cheesey) version on my Road Star. Both do what they are supposed to.
Of course it is flatter than something that is really flat around Houston, so the constant adjustment thing isn't much of a problem, as I typically don't use them for very long, just enough for a breather.
However, just watching that (suicidal) video makes me have to confess. Yesterday, on a long stretch or two I got bored. So at about 50 mph I set the throttle lock and sat up and rested my hands on the back of the tank. It was amazingly comfortable (just because it was a significant change in position) and I found I also felt very secure. Of course, I was just going straight, and that CBR is STABLE. Of course I frequently used to ride "no hands" on bicycles and on by motorcycles when I was young. Hadn't done it to any degree in a long time (my kid might be watching) but it was kinda fun.
Ok, I'm ready for my safety lecture.
when my wrist gets tired i just pull up and have a break.
