Default Suspension question

I'm considering to upgrade my suspension this winter. The forks are now 11 years old, and probably with the original oil still in them, so it's getting a bit saggy in the front...

How do Ireplace the springs and oil? and what is a good alternative to original springs? can I make the front better then original with aftermarket springs and oil?

Noe

About replacing springs and oil, it´s discribed in the Haynes "Honda Cbr600f1 And 1000f Fours Service And Repair Manual". Costs 280 DKK (with free delivery) and is worth it.

Price is about 400 DKK at a bikeshop.

Hi Noe. You can do this with the forks in situe. Loosen front wheel and place a jack under the engine to lift the front up. remove wheel. At top end of forks release the air pressure and undo the caps, taking care as the spring and collars are under pressure. Remove srings. Using an alan key undo the lower bolt from the botton of fork leg, and allow oil to drain into a large bowl. You can move the lower casing up and down to get all the oil out. Next pull the lower down to seperate it from the top end and remove old seals. Empty the conents of attatchment from inside the lower fork out for cleaning.

You can upgrade to a heavier spring, and heavier grade of oil,but this will change the handling of the bike. Renew the lower copper washer as a matter of corse, with new sealsand reasemble. Dont forget the replace air into the forks.....6psi in each.

I would seriously reccomend paying the $$$ and upgrading to Racetech Gold Valves. It really will make the fork seem much better.
