Default Sub Air Cleaner Filter

just an fyi for all who work on their 1KF carbs. beware of the replaceable sub-air cleaner filter that disinigrates with age and pieces of filter material end up under slide diaphram. the filter hsg has one 10mm bolt, is black plastic and is bolted to a bracket under the tank by the r/f area of the frame. i made my own replacement but also found the oem is available for $2.08 at the stealership. its easily removed, so i would check it. its #13 on the diagram.

I've looked at mine when I've done te valve adjustment. It's the original and looks like new! Maybe I should replace it as a matter of prevention.

Actually, Sprock and I were victims of that a few months ago. Unbenounced to each other, we each used a piece of Scotch Brite pad with a little oil, to make a new filter.

Sounds like a pretty good solution. But for the cost OEM sounds like the ticket

+1 on the scotch pad. thats what i found around the house but wasnt sure about the density and since its to the carb, i ordered an oem for the 2 bucks. its probably worth .02 cents, but i feel better about it. that filter is right over the heat of the engine. i guess like minds think alike lol
