Default Steering Head Bearings

Is there any sort of simple maintance one can do to the head bearings in the steering ? Or do you just wait for them to wear out then replace?

And why does a CBR forum like thisadvertise such ugly saddlebags that should be in a Harley forum. Come on , at least advertise something we would be interested in buying.....like cam chains....hehe

Default RE: Steering Head Bearings

There's not much lateral movement on the steering head bearings, as we all know, and it's pressure that's the real problem. For me, if I'm going to go to all the trouble to disassemble the front end, I'm going to put in new bearings, not just grease the old ones.........You'll know when they need attention, the steering will stiffen up, or you'll hear a "click" when you load up the front brakes.........and the steering vibrates at speed........
I might buy secondhand saddlebags, Gill, ugly as they may be , but not a secondhand camchain.....he he
