Default Steering head bearings

I had a service shop tell me that my steering head bearings needed to be serviced because my steering was tight. It feels fine to me, but this is my first sport bike. I don't want to neglect something that needs to be done and cause more damage. They want $140 to do it. How hard is this to do yourself. Thanks.

well its actually not that hard but time consuming and if you do not have the proper torque tools and what not it can get kinda hairy for 140 i would let them do it.

serviced? what do they mean by 'serviced'?
cause if it's just a simple matter of greasing them, you can do that.
but if it's replacing them, let them do it.

If by serviced they mean replace, than you can probably buy the bearing from your local bearing shop at a discounted price than the Honda ones. Just look for the number stamped on the bearing or even bring the bearing in and they should be able to match it up. I've done this before on wheel bearings and such. Saved mucho dollars.
