Thumbs down Running on two

Hi guys , I have recently come into possession of a cbr1000f and a spare complete engine after a thorough check I have stripped and cleaned the carbs before I tried to start the engine as one of the plastic fuel attachment needed replacing ! Now the problem starts !!! With choke one the bike will start and run 1&2 on the button ! 3&4 don t seem to fire up ! Checkked plugs and I have sparks on all four . Sometimes 3&4 plugs are wet ( making me understand that there is fuel ! Checked valve clearance and seem all ok ! Apart from a little difference on the compression 1&2run 10 bars and3&4 9 bars ! Nothing to serious I thought !also have noticed the absence of fuel pump on this bike, isn't t that crazy ? But that seem to be the way Honda wanted it ! Also checked fuel tap and seems ok ! Any ideas ??????
Ps also tried a different set of carbs still the same problem !

Here's the thing, You need to check the plug wiring. I think Sprock over looked what you posted.

While sitting on the bike, cylinders are numbered 1-4 from left to right.
Plug wires are as follows in order.
left coil 1&4 and right coil 2&3.

I don't think these are correct on your bike.

Default Hi

Well this is weird on my bike when I got it , the first coil fired 1&3 and the second coil ( the one on the right as sitting on the bike) was plugged to 2&4 however according to the Haynes manual the firing order is 1243 doh !!!!!!!

I think what you are saying is that you have wired the coils in the firing order. This would be wrong.

Sitting on the bike

left coil left side to #1
left coil right ride to #4
right coil left side to #2
right coil right side to #3

1-4 2-3

If you can find a bike shop or auto electrician with decent coil testing equipment have them tested and replace if necessary.
It has to be said though that coil failure is a rare thing on a CBR. I can't remember reading any posts on the forum with coil trouble but it's worth having them checked before launching into a purchase.

Let me clarify TBT - bad coil - is what I think is his problem but firing order by
yourself was a good pointer too........... sorry sometimes I have to bail out of a post prematurely.

1 & 4 left side coil sitting on bike
1 & 3 right side coil sitting on bike

the other reference was just an fyi that Hurricances from 89 on had no electric fuel pumps

^ ha ha ha ...the original post he says he has spark across the board. #3&4 sparking but plugs are wet. Later post he describes #1 and #2 are actually wired correctly but 3 and 4 (the wet ones) aren't. Coils are working fine.

Then there is mention of firing order. Firing order and coil order are two different things.

"Hurricances from 89 on had no electric fuel pumps" and the ones prior did but those may have been removed to let gravity do its work.
