I'm on here for a friends sake My buddy bought a 1998 Honda cbr 900rr fire blade it was in pecieces i know nothing about bike but alot about engines i was able to get the engine rebuilt and back together in the bike carbs hooked up and every thing but for some reason it's not firing on all cylinders i checked compression i check the plugs and wires and coils all are working it's throughing fire out the exaust and fuel out all four carbs so i checked the timing trigger and rotor there working as well to could it be a bad vacum leak or did i set the cams wrong it will run on it's own but very badly

I'd say your cam timing is out.

sounds like its overloading with fuel, the fuel petcock could be bad and flooding it out bad like mine was doing. the fuel petcock is a common problem with dumping fuel into the carbs, etc. I would start there could be a good start.

If you have built the motor you could have your timing off, or cams, etc. How did you line up no. 1 cylinder etc. Did you have a manual to help rebuild it?

I would check the coil and the fuel to that cylinder. Be sure your getting both, the manual should tell you specs on teh coil to ohms test it for proper readings. Easy way could be to check for spark hold the plug wire close to metal and crank it over, see if it sparks. also check the color of the spark, I think a yellow/orange spark is weak, blue is good. to ohms test you will have to check within the manual.

That's not good, did you have to rebuild the motor trans and all? if they guy you bought it from wheelied it and stripped out the trans - might be why he tore it down.
