Default power mods

Not that a 135 horsepower motorcycle needs much in the power mod department, I was wondering what kind of mods(other than exhaust and jet kit) have riders done to a 1000F to get more horsepower and/or torque out of it?? I am not really planning to do anything crazy to my ride its more with an eye toward knowing more about my motorcycle. If i find domething within reach of my abilities I may give it a go. I am not going to pay any shop to do it.
the Damn thing is so fast now its not worth paying someone to make it faster.

For those of you who have tried power mods what worked. More importantly what didn't work.

currently working on power mod for my 90 cbr. Having cams made out of california for more agressive profile ,wiseco 1049 kit 12to1 compression as well as down 1 on the front and up2 inthe rear sprocket. trying to shoot for 175hp jet kit and supertrapp pipes. will have to see when I get it back together and put it on a dyno.

I installed a full 4-2-1 system on my -92 that it responded well to. What you can also do is to port the head with a Dremel, and increase the compression. A goof valve and seat job is also needed to achieve optimal power. A word of caution though - it is better to be conservative when porting than to falling into the-larger-the-better trap. If the dimension of the runners is enlarged the bike will loose bottom and mid range performances.

My current Blackbird has undergone those mods and the rear wheel power increased from about 135 hp to about 155 hp. More importantly, the power and torque was increased over the complete rpm range.

You can read about DIY head porting on http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.aspx
