Was57, what book is that article from? Is it for the 93-96 1000F? The drawing shows the pilot screws under the float chamber. For my 90, the pilot screws are on the left side of carbs 1 & 2, and on the right side of carbs 3 & 4. The screws for 2 and 3 carbs are extremely difficult to get to when mounted on the bike. At sea level they should be 3 turns out, but make sure you bottom them very lightly. At a mile high, I set mine to 2 1/2 turns out.

I'll drink to that. It'll work anywhere in that 2 1/2 turn range. It's the idle circuit, afterall.

Get a second set of needle washers and install them on top of the originals if it's stock jetting. That'll clean up the mid-range nicely.

Any thoughts on my blog about rear shock upgrade ????????
I'm still on my original rear shock. I have a very low mileage spare ready to go if the need arises but I just haven't had any reason to change it. The shaft is still cherry, no leaks or even traces of one. The spring's close enough to right and it handles road conditions nicely.

I did raise the front from the original 2 1/8" static sag to about 1 3/8" and dramatically raised the fork oil level. All of that was done at about 25,000 miles and has been maintained since then at those changed settings. The spacers were made from PVC pipe at 5/8" additional length and the fork oil level was raised to 4 13/16" from the stock 6 7/8". The raised fork oil level was to aid in bottom out resistance. The front springs are progressive wound but could probably still use help for the more aggressive riding, but it's OK as is.

I may go back at the front end, changing the springs for linear 1.0kg but I haven't tried anything else so don't have any solid recommendations there. It really was never bad for street use, handling rough corners well, firmly planted at all times. Could it be made better? More than likely.

It is from Honda and it was printed in December 1992 for the CBR 1000 F
