Default Pilot Screws

So i have a 94 f2 and the exhaust smells really rich with gas like a jetski. so i bought a pilot screw wrench to see if i could adjust the mixture. I know that the pilot screws are not somehting that is user friendly, but i am determined to try. I have basic instructions from my online service manual but does anyone have any advice, so i can try not to mess up my carbs.

I would start with them all the same, such as 2 1/2 turns out. But be careful when turning them in. Be gentle. Once they stop turning, don't force them anymore. Is the pilot wrench bendable to reach the screws on the middle carbs? I've always set them with the carbs off the bike.

the tool i have is a rigid long flat head screw driver with a 90 degree angle at the end. it reaches the middle screws but it is not easy, and it is hard to tell when the pilot srews are turning. But is it important that all of the screws are turned the same?
