Oil Pressure Warning Light
Changed the oil a few weeks ago. Use the bike five days a week commuting in and out of London, so lots of stop-start and traffic light grand prix starts.
Checked the oil yesterday, the dipstick was dry. Not a trace of oil on it. Put in the half a litre I had in the garage. Still nothing. Bought another litre, still nothing. Rode to work and back today, put in another quarter of a litre, finally got the dipstick wet!
Just checked the odometer, she's done 44,444.4 miles (honest!). Has been feeling great on faster roads, apart from camchain rattle which only goes away when idling at standstill.
Must be one hell of an engine if it runs smoothly on only two litres of oil, but shouldn't my oil warning light be warning me? It comes on at ignition but goes out straight away.
Thanks all.

It think the oil light will only come on if the pressure is low and the pump would have to be dry. You probably had enough oil in it to fill the pump, I think that's how it works!!!
Good luck.
