Default NO. 2 Carb flooding

Hi Guys,
My CBR 1000F-H started cutting out on number 2, so I took the carbs out and number two had lots of crap in it (all other were pretty clean). I cleaned bowls and jets, replaced all four float needles, seats and bowl O rings. Reassembled. I started the old girl up and she ran sweet as ever for a few minutes but then she cut out on number 2 again and fuel was poring out he overflow tubes!!
I haven't had a chance to strip it down yet again but I'm guessing the float levels need setting. Any thoughts?
Cheers and Happy New Year guys,
Robbie

Had the same problem with my 1200 kawasaki,I thought the same thing but turned out to be more debris, very hard to see, almost translucent.I would definitely change out the filter, check the screen above the petcock, and verify the float height.Plus some guys like to polish up the seats at the needle valve,im pretty skeptical of that but i feel your pain,no fun pulling the carbs repeatedlyWhen you open it up again take a very hard look inside for debris, then you can rule that out if nothing found .Good luck

Check float operation as it seems to be getting stuck. Sorry you have to pull your carbs again - just did mine yesterday and it's not a quick job.

Thanks Guys,
Petcock has just been rebuilt with new seals and filter, so that's all clean. I will do the float heights and hope this does the trick.
Cheers,
Robbie

Rig up a test with fuel running into the carbs on the bench. That should confirm that your needle valves are OK.

Cheers,

Dennis

Hi Guys, Carbies off again! Set all float levels to 9.3mm according to the manual, with vernier calipers this time. Put carbies back on and took her out for a run into town this morning. All good and running on all four and no flooding! Yahoo!
Cheers, Robbie

i am picking up an 87 tonight that has been sitting for too long with someone. he had a fire start because of an overflowing carb, luckily with only some scoring of electrical wires and nothing major as the bike was idling when it happened.
i will have to do a complete refurbish of the carbs . will be good practice as my 600f could use some carb tlc as well.

Pretty frightening when that happens. I hope you get it sorted. Mine is running fine now. The bowl float heights are very important and need to be spot on.
Best of luck.
