Default Carburator Tune-Up

Anyone had their carbs rebuilt or tuned on a 1990-1994 CBR?

Looks like my #1 carb is allowing too much fuel into the cylinder and it's fouling my plug. It will run fine for a few minutes and then start fouling. Remove the plug and it's wet with gas.

either it is in need of a carb synch or it needs rebuilt...remember the number 1 carb is the lowest carb when the bike is on the sidestand..it may also be your fuel petcock allowing fuel to flood that carb

It's quite easy to take the carbs off, and cleaning the carbs is simple. If you have a manual. You probably have dirt clogging the inlet valve above the float. I use a large metal baking sheet, with turned up edges, for cleaning. You don't have to take the carbs apart from each other. Use a very good phillips screwdriver to take off the screws. Use spray cleaner to clean the jets and passages. Then take the tops off and clean the plastic slides, walls and passages. Don't get carb cleaner on the diaphram. Put a little Vaseline in groove to hold edge of diaphram. Done. First time is the toughest.

I think the float may be sticking.. It fouls out even running on the center stand.

I think I will take it to the shop and let the professionals do the work.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

A big problem with these carbies is the Float Valve & Seat. The damage my not be visible and it doesn't take much for it to allow too much fuel to flow.

Just replace them as they aren't that expensive.

Float Valves not expensive.? What source do you use for parts?. Honda charges. $ 35.00 US per set and thats $ 140.00 US in my book for a set of 4. So unless you have another source, it is expensive.
