I was looking at the parts manual for the 87 - 88. These models don't appear to have the same vacuum component. It looks like it's just an on/off type of petcock. As for the float valves, when I rebuilt my carbs I replaced them with aftermarket. I just googled the part name and shopped around.

Thanks, I will give google a shot. Does anyone think this will fix the problem, or should I work on memory. (ie. turn the thing off; and, as important, turn it on when I leave.)[X)]

Also, no vacuum to the petcock. (from wifey either!!!) It is manual. You would think for $85. it would do some kind of trick.

Thanks for all the advice,
Patrick

Oops. Sorry for the bum steer. [sm=imsorry.gif] Obviously on mine the pump is the reason fuel only flows when the engine is cranked. My old 1100f however definitely was vacuum at the petcock.

Your problem might be the pump... that is not a factory pump. The factory pump only pumps slowly when the fuel is needed... meaning if you turned it on it would pump until the bowls were full and then when the pressure of the needle being closed was felt by the pump it would sort of slowly stop pumping. It is a very low pressure pump. If the one you have is loud then I assume it is running all the time and probably overpowering your needles.

Mine was not the noisy one. I took mine out last year. It ran straight through weather running or not.

I appreciate the help though,
Patrick
